Handwritten assignment: type it, get it in your own handwriting

Your course wants the assignment handwritten, but you have already typed it. Copying it out by hand is an evening. Penmark turns typed text into handwritten pages: pick a ready-made hand and see a result in seconds, or capture your own handwriting once from a pen template, and every assignment after that comes out in your hand, on lined or grid paper, math included.

The short answer: To convert a typed assignment to handwriting: open the tool and try it straight away with a ready-made hand, or fill one pen template with a dark pen (about 10-20 minutes in total, once) so the pages come out in your own writing. Paste the text or upload a file, pick the paper, and download a PDF, Word file or PNG. Free, no account.
✍️

Your hand, not a font

Several real variations of every letter from the template you filled, so a repeated word never looks stamped.

📄

Ready to submit

PDF, Word or PNG, on lined, grid, dotted or blank paper, for printing or sending.

½

Math and formulas

Stacked fractions, stretching radicals, exponents, Greek letters, and you can paste LaTeX.

🎛️

You control the look

Size, weight and spacing for the whole document or a single letter, until it looks like how you write.

How it works

  1. Try it first: the tool loads a ready-made hand and renders a sample page in seconds, no template
  2. Want it to be your own hand? Print the template, fill it with a dark pen, photograph each page flat and upload. About 10-20 minutes in total, once
  3. Paste your assignment or upload a PDF, Word or txt file, choose the paper and tune size and spacing
  4. Download a PDF, Word file or PNG, then print or send it

How to convert a typed assignment to handwriting, step by step

There are two routes. The fast one needs nothing: open the tool and it loads a ready-made handwriting (there are 91 to choose from) and renders a sample page in seconds. Paste your assignment, pick the paper and download. That is the route for seeing what the output looks like. The route that gives you your own handwriting takes one session: print the template, fill every cell with a dark pen, photograph each page flat with all four black corner squares in the frame, and upload. Plan for about 10-20 minutes in total, once.

A common mistake is photographing a page of your regular handwriting. It will not work. The system reads the filled template cell by cell, because that is how it gets several variations of every character. Once the template has been read you never fill it again: the library stays in your browser, and every later assignment is paste, render, download.

Already have the assignment as a file? Upload a PDF, Word (docx) or txt file up to 20 MB and the text is extracted for you. A PDF that is a scan has no text layer to read and there is no OCR, so in that case paste the text instead.

What the finished page looks like

Every letter in your library has several captured variations, and the renderer alternates between them with small changes of size and slope, so a repeated word is not a stamp. After rendering you can tune size, stroke weight, line spacing and word spacing for the whole document, or fix one letter that landed badly. That is far closer to a real hand than a handwriting font, which repeats one identical shape per letter.

The honest part: it is a rendering of the letters we captured from you, not a pen on paper. There is no pressure, no ink bleed and none of the drift of a hand that tires over ten pages, so a very long document looks more even than a real one would. Printing on lined or grid paper and keeping the size slightly loose helps. Diagrams, graphs and tables are not drawn: leave room and draw them yourself, which you would do anyway.

Math, units and symbols

A fraction is built numerator over denominator, the radical bar stretches over the whole expression, exponents and indices sit at the right height, and Greek letters are written in your hand. Paste LaTeX as it is. Matrices work up to 15x15. Two things are not drawn: arrows over vectors and bars over expressions. The full detail is on the handwritten math page.

Which languages are supported

Penmark writes Hebrew and English, digits, punctuation and math symbols, 155 characters in one template. Hindi and other Devanagari scripts, Arabic, Cyrillic, vowel marks (niqqud) and accented Latin letters are not supported, so an assignment in those scripts will not render correctly. An assignment in English or Hebrew works fine.

Questions & answers

How do I convert a typed assignment to handwriting?

Paste the text or upload a PDF, Word or txt file, choose the paper and download. You can start straight away with a ready-made hand, or fill one pen template (about 10-20 minutes in total, once) so the pages come out in your own handwriting.

Can it use my own handwriting instead of a font?

Yes, through the template. Each character is written three times, and the system keeps those variations and alternates between them. Important: a photo of your regular handwriting will not work, only the filled template does.

Is it free, and do I need an account?

It is free and needs no account: the template, the ready-made hands and the downloads.

How long does it take?

The template takes about 10-20 minutes in total, once (print, fill with a dark pen, photograph, upload). After the library is built, each further page takes seconds. If you skip the template, a ready-made hand works immediately.

Which files can I download?

PDF, Word (docx) or PNG, on lined, grid, dotted or blank paper. In Word, each page is an image of the written page.

Does it handle math and formulas?

Yes: stacked fractions, stretching radicals, exponents, indices and Greek letters, and you can paste LaTeX. Arrows over vectors and bars over expressions are not supported, and tables and graphs are not drawn.

Does it support Hindi or other languages?

No. The library covers Hebrew and English, digits, punctuation and math symbols. Hindi, Arabic, Cyrillic and vowel marks are not supported.

Does it look like real handwriting on paper?

Yes. Every letter comes in several captured variations, and the renderer alternates them with small changes of size and slope, so a repeated word never looks stamped. Print it on the paper your course uses, and it reads like a page you wrote by hand.

Is my handwriting stored on your server?

No. The library is kept in your browser, and uploads are deleted from the server within about 24 hours.

Is there a limit on length?

You can paste up to 300,000 characters or upload a file up to 20 MB. A normal assignment, even a long one, fits comfortably.
